What better way to spend the holiday of love then with your loved ones in a lovely setting in Pike County. My in-laws decided to treat my husband, daughter and I to a Valentine’s Day dinner at Peter’s Europa House in Shohola. We decided on an early reservation in hopes that our almost 3-year-old wouldn’t spoil the romantic, candle light dinners many hoped to have that evening. We were greeted by the hostess and staff who all donned beautiful, pink blouses in celebration of the holiday. The dining room looked spectacular but not as good as the complimentary champagne and strawberries that soon followed us to the table. Peter Jajcay, the owner, handed each of us our glasses with a pleasant smile and welcomed us. We toasted to love and family and then looked over the festive menu...

My Two Days at Woodloch
With my husband unable to get off of work, I packed up my 2-year-old along with my in-laws and headed up to Woodloch Resort in Hawley for a mid-week, quick get away before the Labor Day weekend. With Woodloch being a sponsor of PikeMoms.com’s ‘Best Back To School Photo Contest' it was the perfect excuse for me to finally experience this nearby vacation destination which I have heard so much about. The website and conversations I had with Woodloch Marketing Director, Laurie McEvoy, set high expectations. I've heard it described as a "Cruise on Land" or "Dirty Dancing meets Disney" and if that's the case - it's exactly what we're hoping for.
We pulled up to Woodloch’s main lodge after being in the car for about 35 minutes. There was no traffic and not a lot of vacation money spent on gas which made me happy. Check-in was seamless and we were told to proceed to the dining room for lunch before checking into our rooms. As we entered the dining room we were greeted by several Woodloch employees, one of which showed us to our table. We enjoyed the perfect view of Lake Teedyuskung and instantly we all grew excited. Within view and included in our package were kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, waterskiing, paddleboats and a waterslide that shoots right out into the lake!
